Universal’s sci-fi adaptation of the naval board game Battleship will hit cinemas in the UK on 11April 2012.
The movie is directed by Peter Berg and stars Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgård, (Eric in True Blood), Taylor Kitsch (Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine), and Rihanna makes her acting debut as Petty Officer Raikes.
Talking about her plans to make a name for herself in the movie business, Rihanna said in a recent interview: ‘I love doing movies now. It’s something I want to do more of.
Director Peter Berg raved about the singer’s performance in the big-screen adventure during an interview with MTV News earlier this month.
He said: ‘She was great. She has a very strong part. I was surprised no one had ever thought to hire Rihanna. I was a huge fan of her videos.
Battleship is a high-concept action-adventure maritime and alien invasion mashup. The premise is a sci-fi geeks dream: mankind encounters an alien race and a fleet of ships is forced to do battle with an armada of alien ships in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals.
Ri Ri can be seen at 1.45 in the clip above (blink and you will miss her). I am really hoping that her film career takes off has I am not a fan of her music, but her public antics amuse me (not gonna lie).
