After appearing on the season premier of Iyanla: Fix My Life, 42-year-old rapper DMX has said Iyanla did not help him.
Speaking to JET on Sunday, 14 April, he expressed that Vanzant “tricked” him and did not stick to the topic that he agreed to discuss.
The former Ruff Ryders rapper expected spiritual life coach Iyanla would help to help to address the relationship issues he has with his 10 children; however the show turned out to be an intervention for the artist’s drug problems.
During the programme X lost his cool with Vanzant more than once as he tried to reconnect with his oldest child, Xavier Simmons.
DMX representative Domenick Nati sent AllHipHop.com an exclusive comment denouncing the show’s effort to fix his life.
“DMX agreed to be a guest on Iyanla: Fix My Life with the understanding that she would be helping his relationships with his 10 children,” his rep said in a statement. “When he arrived for the taping, most of the content was focused on his struggles with drugs and poor parenting. Iyanla did not ‘fix’ DMX’s life … and does not have DMX’s personal written consent to use the footage.”
Despite efforts to prevent the airing of the show, it aired in the States on 14 April.
