Fair or Not? – The Snow White Complex is a short documentary about Eurocentric standards of female beauty that are held across most post-Colonial cultures.
You will see from this film that Black people are not the only ones who suffer from shadeism and pigmentocracy within their community and without.
Some of the topics covered include skin colour preferences in relation to class/culture, the media’s role in exacerbating internalised racism, skin bleaching products, the exoticism of dark-skinned women, and the phenomenon of tanning amongst white women.
